Minnetonka, MN

Minnetonka is a city in Hennepin County, Minnesota, located just west of Minneapolis. It's conveniently located near Hopkins, Edina, and Saint Louis Park, most noted for its iconic moccasin maker, The Minnetonka Moccasin Company.

The Sioux Native Americans inhabited Minnetonka right from the 15th century. Eden Prairie was founded in 1851 by Europeans, and it has been known as Minnetonka since then. In 1858, it was renamed Minnetonka after the Dakota language term for "big water."

Minnetonka has grown to be a busy Minneapolis-St. Paul suburb with many things to see.

The schools would be the first draw for many families. They are some of the best high schools in their size range. The district is very ethnically and geographically diverse, with 27,000 pupils and ten high schools.

Places to See and Visit 

Minnetonka has various pathways, such as the Lower Minnehaha Regional Park Trail, which is 1.5 miles long and runs along Minnehaha Creek. Picnic tables, fishing ponds, play equipment for children, horseshoe pits, and restrooms are available.

There's no better place to visit and take a picnic lunch than Lake Minnetonka. It has several marinas, boat rentals, paths, and two public beaches.

The Minnetonka Historical Society Museum is a museum containing photos, buildings, and exhibits from days past that provide a fascinating look into the history of this quaint town.

Food and Entertainment

Thai Taste has achieved the Best of CitySearch 2009 and 2010 OpenTable Diners' Choice Awards.

The Lakehouse Restaurant serves a wide range of dishes, such as the Minnesota Whitefish with a cucumber salad for a healthy option.

A home-cooked meal with many options is available at Year Night Cafe. Diners can choose from the Grilled Pork Chop served on a bed of apples and rice pilaf, among other delectable dishes.

The Barn Theatre in Minnetonka is a performing arts center that hosts live performances each week. There are several dining options as well as numerous drinking establishments to select from.
